The Charleville International Half-Marathon was once again a huge success for the club last Sunday. It was a culmination of the efforts of club members over the past year and also due to the great support from family, friends, community members and sponsors. In the past number of days we have had huge positive feedback on all aspects of the event which is great to receive when so much voluntary effort has gone into the delivery and execution of the event. Each year the club committee has sought to build on the efforts of the previous years committee to develop the event and it is only through this constant innovation and development that the event has achieved such success.
The club would like to thank all those who volunteered whether they are from the club or local community for helping us to deliver the event and provide such an enjoyable event for so many runners. We were lucky to have such good weather and that the event went off without any difficulty. It was very encouraging to get such great support from sponsors locally, especially our main sponsors, Kerry Foods, who have been very positive and supportive in the development of our event over the past couple of years.
The club would also like to thank our neighbouring clubs who supported our event and gave such positive feedback and support. We would especially like to thank Kilmallock AC who provided great support in their home town with lots of kids at the water station and adults stewarding around the area.
The success of the event will allow the club to build and move forward as a club as a whole and to become more inclusive with extra resources to do so, while also allowing for the possibility in the future to enhance facilities available to current members. We hope that current members and parents will be encouraged by the success of this years event to continue to support the event for the development of the club and athletics in general in the area.
