The All Ireland Uneven age cross country action took place in Gowran, Co.Killkenny on Sunday 5th December. The conclusion of cross country this year certainly didn’t disappoint with many superb races across all age groups.

First race of the day was the U11 girls resulting in Michaela Flynn (4th) and Ciara Kiely (9th) finishing in the top 12 and claiming their medals. Amy Cotter and Grace Healy finished in 22nd and 23rd place resulting in the team winning the All Ireland juvenile title, the first time in over 20 years. Michaela and Ciara also claimed the silver provincial medal. There were strong performances also from Muireann Murphy and Eva O’Neill finishing well in the top half of the field of 177 athletes. In the U11 boys there was another strong set of performances from Mason Walsh (5th) and Kyle Hunter (36th) out of the 175 entrants. Mason claimed his top 12 medal as well as a gold county and provincial medal.

Another team of North Cork athletes made up the U13 girls, headed by Emma Flynn finishing 4th, followed by Kate Healy, Muireann Bradley and Leah Ryan. Despite a strong effort the team finished in 5th of the 18 teams, however Emma Flynn received a gold county medal and provincial medal. Only one boy was completing in the U13 boys, and Tomas Kiely matched his sisters performance in the earlier race finishing 5th and claiming another top 12 finishers medal. Tomas was part of the Cork team that finished in first place and the Munster team that finished first. The final race of the day for North Cork was the U15 boys, where Iain Buckley finished in 49th to claim his bronze County team medal.
